Someone with too much free time
I belong to a message board. It started out as a pregnancy message board but now that we have all had babies it was converted into an online playgroup. I post and participate, but mainly I lurk around. I've received some good advice and product recommendations but I don't feel the need to post a response to every single thread that comes along. Some people do, and that's cool. . .but it doesn't always take 14 people to answer a question.Okay. So someone with a lot of time on their hands went through the motions of creating a membership on this message board and then thought it would be fun to talk shit about people in a public forum. To make matters worse, it was more than likely a member of the online community (a troll). Fortunately, I was out of town for most of the fireworks but from what I have read and been told it got pretty heated. And while part of me is curious about what exactly was said (yeah, I'm nosy) I keep coming back to the same thing. . . how big of a loser this person must have been in the first place. Have you nothing better to do with your time than go online and say nasty things about someone you don't know? What a waste of time. To a certain extent I am vested in the lives of the people on my message board but not THAT vested. I might read something that pisses me off to the point that I write as response, but I am WAY TO LAZY to create a new identity in order to write mean things. What kind of coward does that? And better yet, why do I care?
